The Directorate has a three-tier structure consisting of the following levels:
At the Headquarter, the Directorate functions under the guidance and supervision of the Director as the head of the Department and is assisted by other Officers viz. Joint Director, Deputy Directors, Research Officers, Statistical Officers, Registrar and Finance and Account Officer.
The Establishment Section is under the supervision of the Joint Director/Deputy Director with the assistance of the Registrar, Superintendent and other Ministerial Staff. The section is engaged in administration, planning, financial and budgetary matters, establishment, and accounts.
For the smooth functioning of the Directorate, the administration has been divided into 9 (nine) sections:
In addition, there is also one section handling the Support for Statistical Strengthening project, funded by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, Government of India.
The technical work of the Directorate, carried out under the sections mentioned above, is guided by the Director and supported by the Joint Director, Deputy Directors, Research Officers, Statistical Officers, and other technical staff.
At the district level, a District Statistical Officer (DSO) is posted in 11 out of 12 districts of the state. The DSO heads the district statistical office and is assisted by technical personnel: Inspectors of Statistics, Sub-Inspectors of Statistics, Primary Investigators, and Field Assistants.
The Establishment Section includes U.D.A., L.D.A., and other Grade IV staff. Primary statistical data collection for National Sample Surveys is carried out by Primary Investigators. Crop Cutting Experiments (CCE) for Agriculture Statistics are conducted by Field Assistants, all under the supervision of the DSO.
The DSO ensures that fieldwork is completed on time and that data compilation and submission are done within schedule.
A Sub-Inspector of Statistics is posted in each of the 46 Community & Rural Development Blocks in the state. They are responsible for collecting and maintaining various statistics at the block level. Administrative control over them is exercised by the respective District Statistical Officer.
