The Directorate is responsible for the estimation of the State Domestic Product (SDP), also referred to as State Income. SDP is one of the most important macroeconomic indicators used to assess the economic development of the state and the standard of living of its population. Final estimates of the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) are prepared annually in consultation with the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, Government of India.
The Directorate also analyzes the State Government’s budget documents to evaluate budgetary transactions and their impact on the socio-economic conditions of the people. This analysis is published as an economic-cum-functional classification of budgetary transactions.
In addition, the Directorate estimates capital formation in the state across all asset types—fixed assets, current assets, and intangible assets.
