Agriculture Statistics

The Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES) is responsible for the collection and analysis of primary data through Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) for 13 crops in the state. These crops include winter paddy, autumn paddy, spring paddy, jhum paddy, ginger, wheat, maize, turmeric, winter potato, summer potato, cotton, rapeseed & mustard, and jute. The methodology adopted for conducting these experiments is developed by the Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute (IASRI), Pusa, New Delhi.

The DES compiles State and District-level crop reports on Rabi and Kharif crops, as well as vegetable statistics. District-level crop reports are approved by the respective District Crop Statistics Committees, while State-level reports are approved by the State Crop Committee. These State-level reports are then submitted to the DES, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India.

Additionally, the DES compiles other agricultural statistics such as land utilization and irrigation data in consultation with the concerned state departments. These reports are also reviewed and approved by the State-level Crop Report Committee.
