The National Buildings Organization (NBO), under the Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation (MOHUPA), is the nodal authority to coordinate and collaborate with State Governments for collection, tabulation, and dissemination of statistical information on housing and building construction activities. Urban Statistics for HR & Assessment (USHA) is a Central Sector Scheme provided by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation (MOHUPA) annually to the Directorate of Economics & Statistics to support activities related to housing and building construction statistics.
The key objective of USHA is to strengthen and support the statistical system in States/Directorate of Economics and Statistics, to develop a coherent and consistent system of data collection and flow mechanism in DES on housing and building construction.
The NBO has identified three districts—Shillong, Jowai, and Tura—for data collection on housing and building construction. Building material prices and wages of construction labor are collected from seven districts: Shillong, Jowai, Tura, Nongpoh, Nongstoin, Williamnagar, and Baghmara.
Data is collected by DES from various sources such as MUDA, retail shops, and construction sites using formats prescribed by the NBO. Activities under the USHA scheme include:
Data is collected quarterly. After entry and validation, it's transmitted online to NBO via the Building Related Information Knowledge System (BRIKS). The data can be accessed at www.briks.gov.in.
